in Drinking Coffee

Square Mile Coffee offered a unique idea in a coffee venture, and it truly introduced a new concept to the London area. Instead of coffee drinkers visiting a coffee shop to grab a cup of Joe or use WiFi, this coffee house expertly showcases coffee for all patrons.

This new form of coffee display is called the Penny University, and it is located in a small space in Shoreditch with minimal furniture and coffee brewed infused without an espresso machine (i.e. they filter, siphon…just not espresso). This place has enough visitors to constitute a cocktail party where all customers can hang out and engage in conversation, making it much different than a typically quiet café atmosphere.

You can find a delicious cup of Joe filtered and brewed in a Hario, and it is served in a glass carafe with a ceramic mug. Other coffee choices include different brew methods and coffee merchandise, including whole coffee beans, although they do not brew espresso. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and the Penny University will be disappearing as of July 30, 2010. It is a possibility that this concept may appear elsewhere, but if you get the time in the near future, try to visit this location as quickly as possible.
