Do you really need another reason? Check out these fun facts to support your coffee drinking habit the next time that you are called into question.

  1. Get more antioxidants. Both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffees contain an antioxidant known as trigonelline. This powerful antioxidant will neutralize outside free radical damage, which can help to prevent premature aging and disease. Just one freshly brewed cup of Joe will give you as many antioxidants as three oranges!
  2. Get more fiber. A cup of coffee has more soluble dietary fiber than most other beverages.
  3. Lose weight. Drinking caffeinated coffee black will work as an appetite suppressant and may stimulate fat burning in the body.
  4. Treat a headache. While you can easily get a headache from caffeine withdrawal, moderate amounts of caffeine can also be used to treat severe migraine headaches.
  5. Treat pain. Drinking 2 cups of coffee after exercising can reduce muscle soreness and pain by up to 48%.
  6. Treat depression. In an extensive 10 year study done on 86,000 female nurses, it showed a strong association between drinking coffee and reducing the risk of suicide.
  7. Fight cancer. In a 2001 study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community, it showed that smokers that didn’t drink coffee were seven times more prone to bladder cancer than non-smokers. Yet smokers that drank coffee were only three times more at risk for bladder cancer.
