Adding a touch of alcohol to a coffee drink makes a delicious addition to an after dinner coffee that you enjoy with friends or family. Or you can prepare these recipes at any time as a treat for yourself.

Adding alcohol to your coffee has a strange effect. The coffee will perk you up, and the alcohol will mellow you at the same time. Maybe that’s what makes alcoholic coffee drinks so popular…

Irish Cream Coffee

  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • 1 1/2 shots Bailey’s
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream, whipped
  • Cinnamon

Pour coffee into a mug, add Bailey’s, and mix well. Top with whipped cream and garnish with cinnamon as desired.

Mexican Coffee

  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • ¾ shot Kahlúa
  • ¾ shot Tequila
  • Coffee flavored whipped cream

Pour hot coffee over the liqueurs and top with whipped cream as desired.

Bavarian Coffee

  • 1/2 ounce Peppermint Schnapps
  • 1/2 ounce Kahlúa
  • 5 ounces hot coffee
  • 1 1/2 ounces whipped cream
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Add coffee and liqueurs to a specialty coffee cup and sweeten to taste. Float the cream on top and sprinkle with chocolate shavings if desired.

All of the above recipes make one serving, but feel free to double or even triple the recipe if you are entertaining company over the holidays.
